Karina is an artist working across textiles and illustration, drawing inspiration from traditional European folklore, classical narratives, and her Welsh working-class heritage. Her practice is rooted in a deep appreciation of history, traditional craft techniques, and the enduring power of storytelling. Through materials and image, Karina explores how inherited narratives and skills are carried forward and reimagined incontemporary contexts.
Alongside her artistic practice, Karina is a lecturer, teaching in both illustration and fine art craft. Over the past five years, she has built a growing network across Wales through her work in community-based textiles. She runs the Cardiff Sewing Social, which operates primarily as a safe, queer and accessible third space. The group has also been involved in a range of collaborative and activist projects, including a Palestinian peace quilt, union banner making, a women's rights quilt, and most recently a disabled rights quilt.
